Record Setting Fine Ruby
Christie’s sold a 15 carat Burmese ruby for $18m at its Magnificent Jewels auction in Hong Kong in December 2015, setting a world auction record for a ruby of $1.2 million per carat. The 'Crimson Flame' surpassed its high estimate of $15 million.
The “Sunrise Ruby” a 25.59-carat Burmese stone, sold for $30.3 million ($1.184 million per carat) in May, 2015. The price was a new record for any ruby, a new record per carat, and is a record for a stone by Cartier.

The 8.62-carat cushion-shaped 'Graff Ruby' set a then world auction record for a ruby at $8,600,410, as well as a record price per carat for a ruby at $997,727 in 2014.
At Christie’s November 2016 auction in Hong Kong the headliner was the Ratnaraj ruby, a 10.05-carat Burmese “pigeon’s blood” ruby. It made $10.2 million, achieving the third-highest per-carat price for a ruby at just over $1 million per carat. 5.01-carat Burmese ruby
