12.11 carat fancy intense blue makes $15.9m

A 12.11-carat fancy intense blue diamond sold for $15.9m at Christie’s Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels auction. The IF, marquise-shaped, brilliant-cut gem blew past its $12.3m high estimate.
A pair of jadeite hoop earrings with sugarloaf rubies sold for nearly $1.3m, shattering its $750k high estimate.
Number two lot in the sale was a Burmese star ruby and diamond necklace, centered with a 19.53-carat oval cabochon star ruby pendant. The necklace sold for $2.6m, within estimates.

Top lot in colored gems was a 6.06-carat Burmese “pigeon blood” cushion-shaped ruby with no indications of heating. It made $ 1.2m, beating it's high estimate.
