The Patiala Ruby Choker created by Cartier in 1931. Estimate is $ 1.2mA collection of nearly 400 jewels and bejeweled objects assembled by Sheikh Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Thani will be offered at Christie’s on June 19th.

It is expected to become the most valuable collection of jewels ever sold at auction, overtaking that of Elizabeth Taylor, which sold for $115.9m at Christie’s in December 2011.
The collection spans over 500 years, with some items dating to the Mughal dynasty. Among the many notable Mughal royal objects is a jade-hilted dagger once owned by Shah Jahan estimated at $2.5m, and a jade cup with an ibex head, expected to fetch $300k.
