World Famous spinels

The Hope Spinel came from the Kuh-i-Lal mine, in Tajikistan.
The 50.13 carat Hope spinel was owned by Henry Philip Hope who died in 1839.

The 170 carat Black Prince Ruby is part of Britain’s Imperial State crown. It was given by the Spanish to the Black Prince in 1367.

The 352.5 carat Timur Ruby was presented to Queen Victoria by the East India Company.
The Austrian Imperial Crown spinel is the centerpiece of a crown made in 1602 for the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II.

The 398 carat Catherine the Great spinel from the Russian Imperial crown.
