Most Expensive Ruby in the World - Top Ruby of 2016

At 25.59 carats, the Sunrise Ruby is a Mogok Burmese cushion-shaped ruby in a Cartier setting alongside two shield-shaped diamonds of 2.47 and 2.70 carats. The 'Sunrise Ruby' sold for $30.3 million ($1.184 million per carat) in May, 2015. The price was a new record for any ruby, a new record per carat, and for a stone by Cartier.
The 8.62-carat cushion-shaped 'Graff Ruby' was the previous record holder when it brought $8,600,410, ($ 997,727 per carat) in 2014.
The 'Ratnaraj Ruby' a 10.05-carat Burmese ruby made $10.2 million in December 2016, achieving the third-highest per-carat price for a ruby at just over $1 million per carat.

The 'Jubilee Ruby' a 15.99 carat Burmese ruby and diamond ring by Verdura, fetched more than $14.1 million at Christie’s New York Magnificent Jewels sale in April 2016, making it the most expensive colored gemstone sold at auction in the U.S.
