World's Most Expensive ...

Thirty craftsmen, under the direction of Maquin spent over 4500 hours creating this chess set.

The work was done by hand and when it was completed, the artists used 1168.75 grams of 14 carat white gold, and approximately 9900 black and white diamonds, bringing the total weight to 186.09 carats. $500,000.
In 2004, "Garçon à la pipe" -- a 1905 painting by Pablo Picasso -- became the most expensive Picasso painting ever sold when it fetched a whopping $104.2 million when it was auctioned at Sotheby's in New York.

"The Card Players" is a painting by Paul Cézanne sold at auction in April 2011 for $259 million. The buyer was the Royal Family of Qatar and the painting was acquired through a private sale.
The magnetic floating bed debuted in 2006. The bed floats 1.3 feet off the floor while holding 2,000 pounds of weight. $1.6 million.

The Birkin. In 2011, a red crocodile 30 cm size Hermes Birkin bag with 18 carat white gold and diamond hardware was sold at a public auction in Dallas for $203,150. The average new Birkin costs around $8,000, assuming you can stand the long wait list.
In 2004, artwork by artist Damien Hirst consisting of a tiger shark preserved in formaldehyde was reportedly sold to hedge fund manager Steven A. Cohen for $8 million. The taxidermy shark was preserved poorly and had to be replaced in 2007.

The Hello Kitty Jewel Doll. Made of solid platinum studded with gems, including 1,939 pieces of white topaz, 403 pink sapphires, a pair of black spinels for eyes, a citrine for a nose and a 1.027-carat diamond on the bow. $ 167,000
Chef Domenico Crolla’s “Pizza Royale 007″ has ingredients such as lobster marinated in cognac, caviar soaked in champagne, sunblush tomato sauce, Scottish smoked salmon, venison medallions, prosciutto, and vintage balsamic vinegar; to top it off, edible 24-carat gold flakes. It was auctioned on eBay. $ 4200.

Beluga is the caviar among caviar. It is produced only by a certain type of sturgeon (Huso Huso) that has been around since the time of the dinosaurs, and it’s best only when the fish it's extracted from is older than 100 years. $ 1500 per serving.
Blade Runner Blaster Gun. Blade Runner has cult like popularity and is also renowned for the futuristic looking blaster gun, professionally used by Harrison Ford. The prop brought $270,000 in 2009.

DeLorean DMC-12. Made famous as the time machine in the Back to the Future trilogy. There were seven DeLorean DMC-12 cars produced for the filming of all three movies, of which only three survived. $541,000
